Plot[]
Hitomi's party exonerate themselves, and Duke Freid (the ruler of Freid who just returned) grants them an audience at his palace. With their input, Freid prepares for the imminent Zaibach invasion. Meanwhile, Millerna discovers a secret door in her sister Marlene's music box. It reveals a diary recounting Marlene and Allen's past.

- Marlene's music box plays a tune named "Whisper of the Mermaids" ("Ningyo no Sasayaki"), a popular song in Asturia. The music is a simple rendition of the Escaflowne main theme, Promises Not Necessary ("Yakusoku wa Iranai"). Not only is it on the first Escaflowne Original Soundtrack (where it is listed as "Deja Blue"), but a version of it plays on an actual Escaflowne music box.
- In the scene where Millerna is seen dressing Allen's wounds, the bandages are placed incorrectly. According to Episode 9, his wound is in his lower right torso; she is wrapping bandages across his chest, on his upper torso.
