The Mole Man is a mysterious petty thief who wanders around the forest near Fanelia. However, he gains the trust of his companions and follows Allen's crew aboard the Crusade.
In the anime[]
When Van and Hitomi are transported by a pillar of light to the woods on the border of Fanelia and Asturia, the Mole Man is interested in Hitomi's pendant and tries to swipe it. Hitomi, believing she is being attacked, cries out for help. Allen comes to her "rescue" and knocks out the Mole Man.
The Mole Man later digs up through the floor of the room where Hitomi and Van are being held captive. Though Hitomi is still suspicious of him, he explains that he only intended to steal the pendant, not to hurt her in any other way. He helps them reach the room where the Guymelefs are being held, and Van attempts to escape.
After Hitomi and Merle are bedridden with a fever, Van, while tending to Merle, notices a toxic seed embedded in Merle's arm. He asks the Mole Man for help, since the Mole Man is one of the forest people and knows how to get the glar leaves that will help alleviate the symptoms of fever. He supplies Van with the leaves, and Van uses the hilt of his sword to mix up a medicine for Hitomi and Merle.
The Mole Man escapes from Fort Castelo with the others and comes to Asturia. When Millerna leaves Asturia in pursuit of Allen, the Mole Man accompanies her on her journey. Allen gets hurt, and the Mole Man encourages her to use her medical knowledge to save him.
The Mole Man reappears shortly before Millerna's wedding. He shows her the necklace she was looking for, and observes that she used to "have a glow" about her, but it's now gone.
When Hitomi accompanies Van to Fanelia to confront Folken, the Mole Man appears from underneath Millerna's carriage to tell Gaddes, Allen, and the others that he saw them escaping to Fanelia.
In the movie[]
The Mole Man is a prophet who travels with the Abaharaki. He is paid by Allen and foretells that Hitomi is the Wing Goddess. He also helps craft Hitomi's pendant.
