Beast people (獣人, kemonobito) are a race exclusive to Gaea. They are humans with animalistic appearances and often other animalistic traits, such as Merle, who is a cat girl who sometimes acts like a cat.
Beast people are considered lower in society than humans and are often mistreated by them. Naria and Eriya's parents were killed by human poachers, who then sought to capture Naria and Eriya due to their gold and silver pelts. Jajuka was beaten and insulted by officials in Zaibach when he attempted to stop them from taking his charge away.
It is unknown if beast people have similar lifespans to humans or if they live longer, like Draconians.
Types of beast people[]
Types of beast people seen in the series and movie include:
- Cats: Merle is a cat girl. Naria and Eriya are leopard women.
- Dogs: Jajuka is a dog man.
- Moles: The Mole Man.
- Wolves: Ruhm is a wolf man. The wolves live in a village near Fanelia called Arzas.
- Dolphins: Hitomi sees a dolphin man at the bazaar in Asturia.
- Hawks: Hitomi sees a hawk at the bazaar in one of the light novel illustrations.
- Geckos: The Gecko People are sent by Meiden Fassa to attempt to kidnap Hitomi.
- Hyenas: In the movie, Van's friend Nukushi is a hyena who fights for the Black Dragon Clan against his will.
